Phoebe Ann Clayborn

Phoebe Ann Clayborn was born to James and Melinda Clayborn on 24 January 1854. She married Sylvanus Shamus Crook (born in 1851) on 19 August 1871 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Together they had seven children. Sylvanus died on 29 May 1920.

1. Mary Ella Crook was born in 1873 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Lorenzo Dow Braswell (1872-1950) on 26 September 1892 in DeKalb County. Mary died on 12 September 1960 in DeKalb County.
   1. Novella Braswell was born on 19 February 1895 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Married Henry M Stanley (1891-1984) on Jun 23, 1912 in Warren Co, TN. Novella died Jul 23, 1983 in DeKalb Co, Tennessee.
   2. Lela Ann Braswell was born on 26 September 1897 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Lemuel Palace Cripps (1899-1974) on 4 August 1915 in Warren County, Tennessee. Lela died on 24 January 1973 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee.
   3. Lonnie Clifton Braswell was born on 31 October 1900 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Josie Altie Hullett (1909-1979) on 16 June 1927 in DeKalb County. Lonnie died there on 29 May 1977.
   4. Ocia Mai Braswell was born on 19 December 1902 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married first to Foshen DeWitt Braswell (1875-1955) on 17 November 1934 in DeKalb County and second to Clemon B. Vickers (1912-1971) on 27 October 1957 in Cannon County, Tennessee. Ocia died on 28 January 1987 in Nashville, Tennessee.
   5. Otis Braswell was born on 21 May 1905 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Clara M. Smithson (1910-1998) on 27 June 1926 in DeKalb County. Otis died there on 13 September 1985.
   6. William Haskell Braswell was born on 1 November 1907 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Lydia May Vanatta (1910-1995) on 1 September 1929 in DeKalb County. Lydia does not descend from Claybourn family members married to Vanatta family members, but is some degree of cousin to them. William died on 28 April 1984 in DeKalb County.
   7. Floyce James Braswell was born on 14 April 1910 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Tishia Hathaway (1910-2002) on 19 May 1929 in DeKalb County. Floyce died there on 1 May 1995.
   8. Johnnie Austin Braswell was born on 18 June 1913 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Maggie Avo Keith (1913-1983) on 25 December 1937 in DeKalb County. Johnnie died there on 26 December 1983.
2. William Horace Crook was born 10 December 1875. He married Matilda Emaline Hale (born on 6 May 1882) on 26 December 1897. Together they had thirteen children. Matilda died on 16 October 1955 and William followed on 15 July 1956. They lived their entire lives in DeKalb County, Tennessee.
   1. Charlie Everett Crook was born on 24 October 1898 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Betsie Ann Malone (1895-1959) on 19 July 1919 in DeKalb County and they had five children together. Charlie died on 10 May 1960 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   2. Zula Crook was born on 28 September 1900 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Toy Poss on 23 May 1937 in DeKalb County. Zula died on 29 January 1991 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   3. Floyd Vester Crook was born on 25 January 1903 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Era Mai Dodd (1908-1991) on 4 September 1926 in DeKalb County. Floyd died there on 3 December 1991.
   4. Willie Green Crook (a female) was born on 16 March 1905 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married first to Dewey Corley (1901-1946) on 2 August 1922 in DeKalb County and together they had five children, listed below. Willie Green married second to William Roswell Edwards (1895-1978) on 19 March 1966 in Wilson County, Tennessee. Willie died on 5 March 1976 in Wilson County.

      2. Billy Corley was born on 7 January 1926 in Tennessee and died on 4 March 2008 in Wilson County, Tennessee.

      4. Floyd Walter Corley was born on 4 September 1935 in Tennessee and died on 21 August 1979 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
      5. Bobby L. Corley (male) was born 4 October 1937 in Tennessee and died on 29 July 1995 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   5. Alta May Crook was born on 16 August 1907 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Abram Smith Malone (1902-1983) in about 1923. Alta died on 20 December 1996 in DeKalb County.
   6. Ada Frances Crook was born on 8 October 1909 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married first to Doyle Eaton Vantrease (1894-1941) on 6 May 1928 in DeKalb County. Ada Frances married second to Edward Carmack Willoughby (1912-1966) on 16 November 1951 in DeKalb County. Ada died on 20 March 2002 in Smith County, Tennessee.
      1. J. D. Vantrease (male) was born in about 1937 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.
   7. Daisy Irene Crook was born on 3 April 1912 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Sidney Dee Curtis (1900-1974) on 16 July 1932 in DeKalb County. Daisy died on 9 January 1992 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   8. Paul Crook was born on 13 April 1914 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Ethel Lee Adamson (1920-2011) on 15 January 1938 in Dekalb County. Paul died on 10 May 1969 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   9. Haskell Crook was born on 2 July 1916 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Bobbie Adamson (1918-1991) on 28 February 1938 in DeKalb County and they had one daughter. Haskell died on 6 June 2013 in DeKalb County.
   10. Lottie Crook was born on 21 November 1918 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Elza Evans “Yank” Cook (1896-1976) on 24 December 1939 in DeKalb County. They had at least two children, Betty Jane (Ricky) Barrett and Linda Clemons both of Alexandria, Tennessee. Lottie worked for the Auburntown Shirt Factory and was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church. Lottie died on 16 June 2014.
   11. Alene Crook was born on 27 April 1921. She was a DeKalb County native, a seamstress, and a member of the New Vision Baptist Church. She married in about 1946 to Homer G. McMahan (1916-1999) and together they had two children, Emma Jo Farmer of Watertown and Kenneth McMahan, who married a woman named Brenda and resided in Alexandria, Tennessee. Alene died on 20 May 2009 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
   12. Bertie Crook was born in about 1922. She married on 22 September 1941 to George Truman Barrett (1920-2001) and together they had at least four children. George died on 9 August 2001 in Smithville, DeKalb County.
   13. Lucille Crook was born in 1925 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Arthur Burton Laythe (1922-1972) on 15 October 1945 in Worcester County, Massachusetts. They had eight children.
3. Malinda K. Crook (“Lenda”) was born on 18 June 1877 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Elijah Marion Parker (1874-1938) on 29 July 1896 in DeKalb County. Lenda died on 10 August 1938 in Wilson County, Tennessee, of pellagra.
   1. Charlie Vester Parker was born on 30 May 1897 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Annie Bell Curtis (1913-1996) on 8 March 1931 in DeKalb County. They had at least two children. Charlie died on 15 January 1970 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   2. Lavonia Parker was born in March 1898 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, and living with her parents as of the 1910 census.
   3. John Virgil Parker was born in July 1900 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, and living with his parents as of the 1920 census. In 1900 he gave his name as Johnnie, in the 1910 census his name is Virgil and he is ten years old, and in the 1920 census his name is Virgil and he is age eighteen.
   4. Della Parker was born on 3 December 1904 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married as the second wife of Live Allen Crook on 14 January 1922 in DeKalb County and divorced before his death. They had three children.
   5. Ora Lee Parker (a female) was born in about 1906 and died on 22 March 1909 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. In the 1910 census Malinda is listed as giving birth to six children with five living.
   6. Dock Parker was born on 15 March 1908 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Robbie Lenor Fisher (1915-1999) on 5 December 1931 in Wilson County, Tennessee. They had one son, who never married, who is buried with them. Dock died on 27 December 1975 in Wilson County.
4. James Henry Crook was born on 3 March 1880 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Sally Tennessee Sandlin (1882-1952) on 18 November 1900 in DeKalb County. James died before 1958.
   1. Lillian M. Crook was born in about 1901 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She never married and died on 18 October 1964 in DeKalb County.
   2. Maude Crook was born on 30 April 1905 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Selmer Lee Dutton (1911-1990) on 6 January 1940 in DeKalb County and they had two children. Maude died on 16 October 1964 in Davidson County, Tennessee.
   3. John Crook was born on 8 June 1911 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, and died on 22 April 1954 in DeKalb County having never married.
   4. Ralph Crook was born on 2 December 1922 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, and died there on 28 October 1996 having never married.
5. Matilda Crook (“Tildie”) was born on 17 December 1884 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Alonzo “Lon” Driver (c. 1879 – 1961) on 26 August 1900 in DeKalb County. Tildie died on 26 February 1958 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   1. Berry Driver was born on 29 November 1903 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Jennie Gilley (1909-1996) on 28 December 1929 in DeKalb County and they had one daughter. Berry died on 22 May 1994 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   2. Jennie Driver was born on 15 November 1909 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Joe Turney Truitt (1899-1965) on 5 October 1930 in DeKalb County and they had three children. Jennie died on 11 November 1997 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   3. Taft Driver was born on 13 January 1912 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Minnie Belle Sandlin (1919-2005) on 4 July 1936 in DeKalb County and had one daughter. Taft died on 20 September 1996 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   4. Edward “Ed” Driver was born on 9 February 1914 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Bertie M. “Birdie” Clayborn on 17 March 1934 in DeKalb County.¹Birdie was born on 23 March 1920 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, as the daughter of Clay Evans Clayborn (1894-1983) and Nettie Lee Neal (1899-1929). Birdie died on 31 March 2003 in Wilson County, Tennessee. Ed died on 3 September 1968 in Davidson County, Tennessee.
   5. Dib Driver was born on 11 November 1918 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Dib died on 30 March 1996 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
6. Jackson Crook (“Jack”) was born on 15 March 1888 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Osie Sandlin (1906-1991) on 27 February 1922 in DeKalb County. Jack died on 15 May 1952 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   1. Kathleen Crook was born on 27 July 1923 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Arthur L. Murphy (1916-1990). Kathleen died on 7 January 1982 in DeKalb County.
   2. Clayton Franklin Crook was born on 4 July 1927 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Mary Frances Montgomery (born in 1934) on 1 August 1953 in DeKalb County and they had three children. Clayton died on 11 October 2004 in DeKalb County.
   3. Charles William Crook was born on 3 August 1934 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Imogene Cantrell (1938-2008) and they had four children. Charles died on 13 September 1986 in DeKalb County.

   5. Paul Edward Crook was born on 11 April 1938 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He served as a specialist fourth class in the U.S. Army and married Lila Gail Harvey on 24 March 1967 in DeKalb County. Paul died on 24 December 2009 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
   6. Bessie Lee Crook was born in about 1945 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Willie H. Cantrell on 8 February 1974 in DeKalb County.
7. Lessie E. Crook was born on 17 May 1897 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Lelar F. Parker (1900-1978) on 5 December 1914 in DeKalb County. Lessie died on 1 May 1962 in Warren County, Tennessee.
   1. Lillie Bell Crook was born on 18 February 1918 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married Jewell E. Thrasher (1905-1975) on 6 January 1931 in DeKalb County. Lillie died on 13 January 1995.
