Charlie Clayborn was born in March 1888 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.1The birthdate is based on Charlie’s tombstone, but the 1900 U.S. Census gives 1890 as the birth year. He married first to Edna Stanley (born in 1888) on 18 January 1907 and together they had five children, listed below. Edna Stanley Clayborn’s tombstone indicates her death in 1915; however, her son Clay Edward was born in 1917, and she is recorded in the U.S. Census of 1920. According to family tradition, Charlie may have been married as many as six times (or more) after his marriage to Edna Stanley. To this union a son, Johnnie J. Clayborn, was born. This marriage lasted only a short time and ended in divorce. Johnnie owned and operated Driver’s Bakery in Lebanon, Tennessee, for many years. He later changed the name to Clayborn’s Bakery and it existed for sixty-six years. Johnnie retired and then the bakery was operated by his son, Todd Clayborn, until it closed in 2012. - Montie Lee Clayborn was born to Charlie Clayborn and Laura Elizabeth Wilkerson on 8 December 1942 in Sparta, White County, Tennessee.
