Amelia Catherine Claiborne (known as “Millie”) was born on 24 March 1836 to John B. and Perlina Claiborne. She married Jasper Brandon Scott (about 1832-1864) on 24 December 1851, the same year that the couple moved to Illinois. They had several children together. Jasper fought for the Union in the Civil War with the 80th Illinois Infantry Regiment, a unit that also included Millie’s cousins James Harrison Claybourn and William Pratt Claybourn. However, Jasper died of wounds near Nashville, Tennessee, on 17 December 1864, leaving Millie with the children. Thereafter she married on 21 September 1865 to John Hunt, but they later divorced in March 1871. Millie died on 16 January 1908 and is buried in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
- Perlina Elizabeth Scott was born on 23 September 1853 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. She married on 15 March 1877 in Jefferson County, Illinois, to Archibald Dodson (1839-1913), a Union Civil War veteran of the 111th Illinois Infantry Regiment. Perlina died on 1 July 1925 in Jefferson County.
- Ida Belle Dodson was born on 27 February 1878 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married Henry William Feltman (1868-1958) on 4 October 1899 in Jefferson County. Ida died on 10 March 1951 in Jefferson County.
- Martha Jane Dodson was born on 28 May 1883 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She had one child with Charles Baker Smith, possibly out-of-wedlock, then married Byron Jasper Finch (1874-1935) in about 1910 and after his death James Arthur Waller (1884-1952) in about 1941. Martha died on 24 November 1944 in Franklin County, Illinois.
- Alfred Dodson (a twin) was born on 6 May 1889 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married Minnie Agustus Junkins (1884-1956) on 25 August 1908 in Arkansas. Alfred died on 29 October 1948 in Jefferson County.
- Alva Clyde Dodson (a twin) was born on 6 May 1889 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married Ethel Lone Clopton (1891-1992) on 24 June 1907. Alva died on 14 December 1956 in Jefferson County.
- James E. Dodson was born in April 1894 in Jefferson County, Illinois, and died as a child before the 1910 census.
- James D. Scott was born on 21 July 1856 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He married Mary A. Thixten (1855-1911) on 11 February 1873 in Jefferson County, Illinois. James died on 2 October 1894 in Jefferson County. In the 1900 census their youngest children Harry, Bessie, and Nora are listed as “inmates” in an orphanage in Logan County, Illinois, as well as living with their widowed mother in the home of their older brother James and his wife Zora in Jefferson County.
- Eligah J “Lige” Scott was born on 12 October 1873 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married Rose Lanham (1868-1957) on 3 June 1895 in Jefferson County. Lige was well known for breeding, training, and racing harness horses on the Midwest county fair circuit. Lige died on 26 October 1933 in Jefferson County.
- James A. Scott was born on 24 April 1876 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He served in the Spanish American War with Company K of the 9th Illinois Regiment. He married Zora Cates (1875-1913) on 20 January 1900 in White County, Illinois. He married Pauline Pearl Seaton (1900-1979) on 16 September 1925. James died on 6 September 1948 in Jefferson County.
- Millie C. “Rosie” Scott was born in August 1878 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married George W. Story (1869-1935) on 17 May 1896 in Jefferson County, Illinois. Rosie died after 1900.
- Joseph Henry “Joe” Scott was born on 10 September 1880 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married first Cora Jane Sexton (1885-1948) on 30 September 1901 in St. Clair County, Illinois, and divorced after 1910. He married second Nellie May Howard (1909-1985) on 25 May 1935. His headstone has an image of harness horse racing. Joe died on 29 July 1950 in Sangamon County, Illinois.
- Orley Abel Scott was born on 12 October 1886 in Jefferson County, Illinois. Like two of his brothers, he was known for training and racing harness horses on the Midwest county fair circuit. He was married at some point. Orley died on 29 May 1952 in Jefferson County.
- Maud Ellen Scott was born on 20 August 1888 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married Benjamin Louis Ingram (1886-1967) on 3 August 1903. Maud died on 6 May 1924 in Madison County, Illinois, and is buried there in Saint John’s Cemetery. As of 2015 her grave was unmarked but her granddaughters planned to provide a headstone.
- Harry Homer Scott was born on 22 August 1890 in Jefferson County, Illinois. His World War I draft card said he was married at the time. Both his World War II draft card and his brother’s obituary in 1952 showed him living in Chicago.
- Bessie Scott was born in February 1892 in Jefferson County, Illinois, and (per her brother’s obituary) had a married name of Barnhart and was living in Marion, Indiana, as of 1952.
- Nora Mabel Scott was born on 26 February 1894 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married Charles Harris Bennington (1892-1956) in about 1913. Their son Robert Bennington (1921-2013) was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster medals. Nora died in March 1986 in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Mary Frances Scott was born on 3 November 1859 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married Henry W. Brown (1852-1934) on 24 December 1874. Mary died on 25 July 1897 in Jefferson County.
- Jesse Brown was born in about 1875 in Jefferson County, Illinois.
- Leona Frances Brown was born on 18 June 1878 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married first to Irvin Henry Ross (1858-1942) on 1 January 1895 in Jefferson County, Illinois, and second to John William Farnsworth (1879-1964) on 7 November 1956 in Vermilion County, Illinois. Leona died on 30 April 1963 in Vermilion County.
- Andrew H. Brown was born on 26 March 1881 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married Della Jane Grant (1881-1963) on 3 September 1899 in Jefferson County. Andrew died on 29 May 1950 in Jefferson County.

She loved to travel and in a period of ten years she drove through forty states and visited the Canadian Rockies. Bernice died on 6 November 2005 in Jefferson County, Illinois, and is buried with her second husband in Williams Cemetery.
- Harold W. Scott was born on 20 October 1919 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He enlisted in the Army on 10 February 1941 in Chicago. He was killed in action in Europe on 25 December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge.
- Howard A. Scott was born on 23 June 1921 in Jefferson County, Illinois, and served in the U.S. Navy as ship’s cook first class during World War II. He died on 14 February 1998 in Jefferson County.
- Elmo Walter Scott was born after his father’s death on 7 February 1923 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He graduated from Mt. Vernon township high school in June 1941 and that same month he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After about a year of service in the regular Navy, he transferred to the Navy Air Force and served as pilot during World War II. Beginning in about 1951, he was attached to the U.S. Embassy in Manila. He married Margaret Anice Cobb in 1944 and together they had two daughters, Mary Ann and Carol. Elmo died in a military plane crash at Daet, Southern Luzon, Philippines, in December 1953. His body was not recovered.
- Inez E. Scott was born on 17 November 1898 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married Leroy G. “Roy” Kirkpatrick (1898-1975) in about 1918. Inez died on 26 June 1980 in DuPage County, Illinois.
- William McKinley Scott was born on 2 November 1900 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married Elmira Gregory (1904-2000) on 30 December 1922 in Jefferson County. William died on 10 January 1975 in Jefferson County.
- Clarence Jasper Scott was born on 19 September 1905 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married first in about 1927 to Helen Glover (1903-2000), second in about 1948 to Theda M. Yokley Hanna (1907-1966), and third to Leona DeRoe on 9 November 1968 in Madison County, Illinois. He was a technician fifth grade in the U.S. Army in World War II, serving from May 1943 to October 1945. Clarence died on 3 April 1984 in Jefferson County.
- Hazel Scott was born in about 1909 and died on 1 March 1914, both in Jefferson County, Illinois.
- Alta Ann Scott was born on 19 September 1912 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married briefly to Mr. Shields with a daughter born in January 1929, then in about 1932 to Oscar Orley Irwin (1909-1982). Alta died on 20 May 1975 in Decatur, Illinois.
- Victoria Ellen Hunt was born on 15 September 1866 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married in April 1905 as the second wife of William Lincoln Marlow (1861-1941). Victoria died on 29 June 1950 in Jefferson County.
- Henry Marlowe was born on 6 July 1906 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1931, taught vocational agriculture, and founded Marlowe’s Feed and Hatchery in October 1933 in McHenry County, Illinois. Henry married Helen Harrison (b. 1916) in 1935 and died on 25 May 1984 in Kane County, Illinois.
- Josephine Alice Marlow was born on 10 April 1909 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married first to Sibert Gregg Stratton (1903-1943) on 30 June 1930 and second to Donald Francis “Barney” Lovin (1913-1974) on 4 June 1944 in Arkansas. Josephine died on 15 December 1971 in Jefferson County.
- Hall Marlow was born on 14 August 1916 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He married Thelma “Lucille” Webb (1917-1998) on 29 August 1936 in Jefferson County. Hall died on 8 July 2006 in Jefferson County.
- Josephine Hunt (“Josie”) was born on 15 January 1869 in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married first to William M. Williams on 20 June 1887 in Jefferson County and second to John Wentzel (1867-1935) in about 1892. Josie died on 22 March 1937 in Jefferson County.
