Martha E. Claiborne was born on 13 March 1831 in Tennessee, probably at Liberty. Sometime before the 1860 census she married James S. Lones (1834-1904), the son of David Lones and Luticia (Browning) Lones. The family name is often spelled as Lonas in the census, but on most headstones the spelling is Lones. James served as a private for the Union during the Civil War in the 8th Tennessee Mounted Infantry Regiment.

  1. Henry W. Lones was born in October 1861 in Allen County, Kentucky. He married Mary Frances Farley (1861-1929) in about 1884. Henry died in about 1906 in Allen County.

    1. Ben H. Lones was born on 12 July 1888 in Allen County, Kentucky. He married on 30 June 1911 to Mindy Evelyn "Mendy" Driver (1886-1956) in Macon County, Tennessee. Ben died on 13 October 1971 in Macon County, Tennessee.

      1. Ora Lee Lones was born on 25 July 1912 in Allen County, Kentucky. He married on 27 September 1931 to Ezra D. Carter (1910-1984) in Macon County, Tennessee. He died on 8 July 1987 in Macon County, Tennessee.

      2. Jewell H. Lones was born on 3 January 1914 in Macon County, Tennessee. She married Enloe Bedford King (1912-1988) on 8 May 1934 in Macon Co, Tennessee. Jewell died on 10 December 2001 in Macon County, Tennessee.

      1. Cecil C. Lonas was born on 24 January 1920 in Macon County, Tennessee. He married Virginia Dobson (1928-1971) and served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II, enlisting in October 1942. He worked for most of his life as a custodian for Warren Township Schools. Cecil died on 19 July 2004 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

      2. Cilvie Irene Lonas (a twin) was born on 14 September 1922 and died soon after on 8 December 1922, both in Macon County, Tennessee.

      3. Bessie Lonas (a twin) was born on 14 September 1922 in Macon County, Tennssee. She married a man with the last name Tinsley.

      4. Essie Frances Lonas was born on 9 January 1925 in Macon County, Tennessee. She married first to James Marvin Farley (1919-1976) and second to a man named Mr. Meador. She died on 23 March 2006 in Allen County, Kentucky.

      5. Tessie M. Lonas was born in about 1929 in Allen County, Kentucky. She married first to James William Meador (1925-1986) and second to a Mr. Carver.

He married again in 1932 to Clovis William Shrum (1901-1952). Henry died on 21 October 1927 in Allen County from injuries caused by a mule kick.

      1. Opal Beatrice Lonas was born on 18 December 1920 in Macon County, Tennessee. She married Harold D. Cook (1915-1986) on 18 July 1942 in Macon County, Tennessee. Opal died on 13 September 2004 in Macon County.

      2. Calcie Frances Lonas was born on 22 July 1922 in Macon County, Tennessee. He married Genie Faye Drury (1924-1987) on 25 July 1942 in Macon County. Calcie died on 12 September 2000 in Macon County.

      3. Pluma E. Lonas was born on 23 May 1924 in Macon County, Tennessee. She married Lennie Eugene Merritte (1921-2005) on 5 August 1950 in Trousdale County, Tennessee. Pluma became a homemaker and started housekeeping and raising her children as soon as she married. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her children and grandchildren. She cherished the time that she was able to spend with them. Her children said that she was a very "sweet mama." In Pluma's spare time, she enjoyed reading the Bible. Although Pluma did not attend church every Sunday, she was of the Missionary Baptist belief and told her family that she had been saved. Pluma died on 20 June 2012 in Macon County.

      4. Corbin Lonas was born in about 1927 in Macon County, Tennessee.

      5. Hillas Lonas was born in about 1928 in Macon County, Tennessee.

    6. Eddie Roosevelt Lones ("Ed") was born on 4 April 1903 in Macon County, Tennessee. He married Geneva "Jennie" Higdon (1906-1958) on 5 March 1930. Ed died on 14 August 1945 in Barren County, Kentucky, from an accidental gunshot wound.

      1. Carl Edward Lones was born on 20 April 1931 in Allen County, Kentucky. Carl died on 29 July 1942 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, from polio.

      2. Mary Vanell Lones was born on 8 March 1935 in Allen County, Kentucky. She married John William Wade (1922-1990) on 12 January 1952. Mary died on 25 August 1980 in Warren County, Kentucky.

      3. Earline Hazel Lones was born on 12 November 1937 in Allen County, Kentucky. She married R. C. "Tom" Witcher (1928-1998) in about 1953. Earline died on 5 January 1999 in Allen County.

    1. James C. Howard was born on 28 February 1900 in Macon County, Tennessee. He married Anna Mae McAdams (1902-1990) in about 1917. James died on 27 September 1925 in Allen County, Kentucky, from car accident injuries.

      1. James Paul Howard was born on born 14 May 1918 in Allen County, Kentucky. He married Edith Marie Beller (1920-2003) and served as a private first class in the U.S. Army during World War II from July 1942 to November 1945. James died on 6 September 1979 in Blackford County, Indiana.

Clarence and Bettie had two sons, Dannie C. Fishburn and Gary Fishburn. Dannie was awarded a Bronze Star medal for valor in 1969 for his service in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

  3. John S. Lones was born in August 1869 in Allen County, Kentucky, and was living as a single man with his parents in Macon County, Tennessee, as of the 1900 census. He probably died there before 1908.

  4. James W. Lones was born in April 1872 in Allen County, Kentucky. He was living as a single man with his parents in Macon County, Tennessee, as of the 1900 census. He probably died there before 1908.
